Promoting the Blue Heart Campaign and Strengthening Local Efforts Against Human Trafficking

In observance of National Anti-Trafficking in Persons Awareness Month, the Local Government Unit of Oton organized a community forum with the theme:
“Isang Nasyon, Isang Aksyon, Tapusin ang Trafficking Ngayon.”
The event also supported the Blue Heart Campaign—a global initiative by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) that symbolizes solidarity with trafficking victims and commitment to ending the crime.
Human trafficking remains a serious human rights violation, affecting people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds. It includes exploitation through forced labor, sexual abuse, and other forms of coercion and violence.
The forum brought together key sectors of the community, including:
- Punong Barangays
- Kagawad (Chair on Women and Children)
- VAW Desk Officers
- Members of the Children’s Organization
- Human Rights Club members
- Teachers
- OWAI-KALIPI members
Guest Speakers:
- Ms. Zxyrabelle Servento, RIACAT Secretariat, DSWD
- Ms. Johanna Risa Neri, World Hope International
They shared key strategies for preventing trafficking, supporting survivors, and fostering community vigilance and inter-agency coordination.
