In a momentous step towards sustainable community development and environmental stewardship, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Oton and Love Our Own Brethren (LOOB), Inc. have formalized their partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The ceremony, held at the Oton Municipal Hall, marks the launch of two critical initiatives: the Community Outreach & Empowerment Project and the Basurang Pangkabuhayan program.

Love Our Own Brethren (LOOB), Inc. is a non-stock, non-profit, and non-government organization established in 2001 in Iloilo City, Philippines. Registered with the SEC No. E200122424, LOOB aims to promote grassroots intercultural and educational exchange between Japanese and Filipino youths. Additionally, LOOB supports the self-independence of marginalized sectors. Their core values include friendship, the spirit of service, and sharing and learning. LOOB’s commitment to community development includes providing Education Support and Alternative Livelihood Support to children and youth from financially challenged households. Through positive and uplifting volunteer work, more than 1,300 local youth have participated in LOOB’s programs and projects.

One of the key initiatives under the MOA is the Basurang Pangkabuhayan project. This project focuses on waste management and livelihood opportunities. By empowering communities to manage waste effectively, LOOB and the LGU of Oton aim to create a more sustainable and livable environment.
