Following the recent coordination meeting between Mayor Sofronio L. Fusin Jr., Iloilo City Mayor Raisa Treñas, and officials from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region VI, the Local Government Unit of Oton is pleased to share key developments in the ongoing efforts to address flooding concerns.
DPWH Region VI, under the leadership of OIC Regional Director Joel F. Limpengco, has deployed Engr. Gwen Ledesma to conduct an ocular inspection of critical rivers identified during the meeting. In addition, DPWH is set to deploy an amphibian backhoe to begin dredging operations in the affected waterways.
Mayor Fusin extends his sincere appreciation to Atty. Cornelio Salinas, who generously allowed the use of his property as a staging area for the backhoe, enabling its immediate and efficient deployment.
These coordinated efforts reflect the LGU’s unwavering commitment to mitigating flood risks and enhancing disaster preparedness through strong interagency partnerships.
