The LGU Oton, Iloilo, in coordination with its MLGOO, LGOO VI Mary Jo Z. Sornito, successfully conducted the Katarungang Pambarangay (KP) Summit for Barangay Officials and members of the Lupong Tagapamayapa at District 21 Hotel, Iloilo City. The event was well attended by participants from the 37 barangays of the municipality.

Mr. Vicente Silla, Executive Assistant and Private Secretary to Mayor Sofronio L. Fusin Jr., delivered the opening message and highlighted the Mayor’s appreciation for the participants who serve as frontliners in addressing disputes and maintaining peace at the grassroots level.

DILG Iloilo Provincial Director, Engr. Carmelo F. Orbista, also expressed his gratitude to Mayor Fusin for his continued support of DILG programs, particularly the KP Summit.

An engaging presentation on the Procedural and Jurisdictional Aspects of KP was delivered by MLGOO Tigbauan LGOO VI Aurelio M. Ticorda. This was followed by a Coffee Table Discussion with esteemed panelists Iloilo Provincial Prosecutor Hon. Ma. Elena Hofileña-Gerochi, Atty. Junine Wednesday Java and Atty. Cyra Mae Eustaquio of DILG Region VI, and Cluster Head LGOO VII Raymundo D. Palanog of DILG Iloilo.

After the discussion, participants received their KP manuals/handbooks, which will serve as practical guides in strengthening barangay-level dispute resolution. The summit concluded with the awarding of the Top Performing Barangays in the LGU for the first semester of 2025, recognizing their dedication and commitment to effective local governance and peacekeeping.
