The Local Government Unit of Oton successfully held a Gender Sensitivity Training (GST+++) on July 3–4, 2025, at Sheridan Boutique Resort, Barangay Buray, Oton, Iloilo. The two-day workshop was attended by newly hired regular, contractual, and job order employees, as well as Sangguniang Bayan members and SK Chairpersons from 37 barangays.
Spearheaded by HRMO Head Elena A. Salinas and GAD Secretariat staff Chezka C. Villarias, with support from Provincial GAD Coordinators, the training focused on increasing awareness of gender issues, eliminating sex-based discrimination, and promoting inclusive communication in public service.
The activity forms part of the LGU’s broader Gender and Development (GAD) Program, reflecting its commitment to gender equality, inclusive governance, and the creation of a more respectful and equitable workplace and community.
More capacity-building initiatives under the GAD framework are set to follow in the coming months.
