A Festival Rooted in History
The Katagman Festival derives its name from “Katagman,” the ancient name of Oton, which was once a thriving settlement dating back to pre-colonial times. The festival pays homage to the town’s historical significance, including the discovery of the golden death mask, an artifact believed to be from the late 14th to early 15th century, symbolizing the town’s connection to early trade and burial traditions.
