Brgy. Rizal, Oton, Iloilo || March 20, 2025 – After four months of schooling and farm engagements, 22 farmers from Barangay Rizal proudly graduated from the Climate Field School (CFS) program, held from December 2024 to March 2025.

The Climate Field School is a flagship project of the Provincial Agriculture Office under its Agri-fishery Climate Resilience Program and was adapted by the Municipal Agriculture and Cooperative Office of the LGU Oton by the leadership of Mayor Sofronio L. Fusin, Jr.

The CFS is an innovative strategy for disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation program. Taking the Palay Check System as a model, the CFS aims to enhance capacity of farmers to understand and apply climate information to reduce flood and drought risk in agriculture.

One of the highlights of the ceremony was the recognition of farmers who achieved perfect scores on the post-examination assessment. These farmers were awarded certificates of excellence, acknowledging their outstanding performance and dedication to learning.

As these farmers return to their communities, they will serve as champions of climate-resilient farming practices, aspiring and educating others to adopt sustainable and adaptive approach to agriculture.
