The Municipality of Oton hosted this year’s First Congressional District Sports Association (FCDSA) Meet, which began on January 22 with a vibrant and spectacular opening ceremony.

The event was held at Oton National High School (ONHS), showcasing talents and performances that set the stage for the upcoming competitions. The opening ceremony highlighted the local government’s organizational skills and hospitality.

Mayor Sofronio L. Fusin, Jr. and Vice Mayor Jose Neil P. Olivares warmly welcomed all guests and delegates, emphasizing the significance of the FCDSA in promoting athletic development within the district. In his speech, Mayor Fusin thanked all the stakeholders for their support and wished the delegates good luck in their competition. He noted, “We are all great competitors, but we are brothers,” highlighting that camaraderie is the essence of the event.

The preparation and management of the sports event fall under the abled leadership of Dr. Darwin Haro, Principal IV, Oton National High School, and Public Schools District Superintendent Dr. Eden G. Gilpo, working overtime to ensure the flawless holding of this year’s FCDSA Meet.

The annual sporting competition is a crucial platform for identifying and nurturing promising talent and provides a stage for young athletes to showcase their skills and compete against their peers from other municipalities. The results will determine individual winners and offer valuable insights into the strengths and weaknesses of existing sports programs within Iloilo’s 1st Congressional District.

The event, scheduled to conclude on January 25, promises to be a memorable experience for all the delegates and stakeholders.
