Local leaders, led by Mayor Sofronio L. Fusin, Jr. and Vice Mayor Jose Neil P. Olivares, extended a warm welcome to distinguished guests during the Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) Conference held at the New Oton Multipurpose Gymnasium on February 18. The event was graced by Fourth District Representative Dr. Ferjenil Biron, Uswag Ilonggo Partylist Representative Jojo Ang, and Anilao Mayor Nathalie Ann “Lee Ann” Debuque, who attended to support and engage with the local BHWs.

The conference also saw the presence of several important local figures, including Sangguniang Bayan Members Hon. Jimmy Olivares, Hon. Lorna T. Geonigo, and Hon. Dennis Geroche. Cadingli-an Punong Barangay Hon. Larry Alison, Dr. Dell Cartago Hosillos, and Former Oton Municipal Administrator Migs Flores were also in attendance.

The gathering provided an invaluable opportunity to assess and strengthen the capacity of barangay health workers, who play a vital role as the frontline providers of health services in the municipality. The event aimed to provide support and resources to enhance the BHWs’ ability to deliver essential healthcare services, improve community health outcomes, and ensure that the people of Oton continue to receive quality health care at the grassroots level.
