
A heartwarming display of community spirit and respect for the elderly, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Oton joined the 2023 Elderly Filipino Week Celebration. The event was graced by the presence of Mayor Sofronio L. Fusin, Jr. and Vice Mayor Jose Neil P. Olivares, who came together to honor the senior citizens of their community.
The Senior Citizens Federated Associations of Oton, Inc. (SCFAII) organized a Thanksgiving and Family Day celebration, which was held at Brgy. Sta. Monica, Oton, Iloilo. The event was a grand success, with at least twenty-five senior citizens from each barangay joining the celebration.

The day was filled with joy and gratitude as the senior citizens came together to celebrate their contributions to the community and the wisdom they bring. The Thanksgiving and Family Day celebration served as a platform for the elderly to connect with each other, share their experiences, and enjoy a day dedicated to them.
Mayor Fusin and Vice Mayor Olivares expressed their admiration and gratitude towards the senior citizens for their invaluable contributions to society. They emphasized the importance of respecting and caring for the elderly, and pledged their continued support for initiatives that enhance the quality of life for senior citizens.
The 2023 Elderly Filipino Week Celebration was not just an event, but a testament to the strong community spirit in Oton.
