Earlier today, the School District of Oton, in collaboration with the Local Government of Oton and the Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) Extension Office, launched the Dressmaking, Automotive, and Welding Training for night class, ALS learners and out-of-school youth in the Municipality of Oton. The event took place at Tagbac Elementary School, Tagbac Sur, Oton.

Ms. Emma B. Caballero, principal of Tagbac Elementary School, warmly welcomed the guests and participants to the launching ceremony. She expressed her gratitude that the school would serve as the training center for this initiative. Despite the considerable responsibility, she and her staff embraced the hosting role, recognizing the potential benefits for the youth and community of Oton.

Public Schools District Supervisor Dr. Eden G. Gilpo, the program advocate, provided a detailed description and overview of the training initiative. She emphasized that this program offers a valuable window and opportunity for the recipients to enhance their skills and employment status since the program aims to promote youth employment and entrepreneurship, equipping young men and women with the technical and professional skills essential for the socio-economic development of the country.

Vice Mayor Jose Neil P. Olivares and Executive Assistant Mr. Jafet Salinas represented Mayor Sofronio L. Fusin, Jr. during the event. In his speech, Vice Mayor Olivares praised the School District’s efforts in creating such a program. He stated that the Local Government Unit of Oton, through its Sangguniang Bayan, is committed to supporting it financially. The LGU-Oton has allocated a budget of P1,500,000.00 for this holistic approach to youth development programs.
