Background of Tagbac Sur

Is a plain land situated at northeast part of the Municipality of Oton, with a distance of approximately 2 and a half (2-1/2) kilometer from the town proper to barangay proper, Tagbac Sur is adjacent to the town proper, at the west part, barangay Buray, Sta. Rita, and Tagbac Norte, Northern part, Barangay Bita Sur, and Tuburan, Eastern part Barangay Lambuyao, and Southeast part, Barangay San Antonio. This barangay is a traverse of San Jose Road (National Road) from town proper going to the town of San Miguel and Sta. Barbara.

The name Tagbac came from the wild plants or shrubs called “tagbac” which is in abundance on this place a long time ago especially along the creek. Tagbac Sur is the largest barangay of Oton as far as land area is concerned. It has a sitio called manue which came from the word “man-way” because long time ago San Jose road is just a narrow passage were residents of the barangay and the nearby barangay passes by.
