History of Buray

Barangay Buray got its name during the early days of American occupation when a group of American soldiers chanced to pass by some local folks who were at the time were fishing along a river bank. The American asked for the name of the community. Some of them were pointing at a school of fish swimming in the river. The fishermen thought that the Americans were asking for the movement of the fish, and since they were short of understanding of the English language, they answered back “NAGA-BURAY”, for the school of fish that were rapidly swimming about, hence this term was mistaken to be the name of the place.
